Interdisciplinary research projects are conducted across six focus areas.

KcKM: National Knowledge Centre for Disaster Medicine

KMC is Sweden's national knowledge centre for disaster medicine with a focus on traumatology, on assignment from the National Board of Health and Welfare. The mandate brings together horizon scanning, analysis, research syntheses and projects in traumatology and disaster medicine.

The Center for Disaster Medicine (KMC) brings together expertise and education in prehospital care, crisis and disaster medicine preparedness, crisis support, disaster medicine research, safety and the environment. In partnership with Linköping University, we serve as a national knowledge centre for disaster medicine with a traumatology focus on assignment from the National Board of Health and Welfare.

KMC maintains several established national programmes, including the Emergo Train System (ETS), Prehospital Medical Command (PS) and Stop the Bleeding. KMC is also home to the International Medical Programme (IMP), which works on sustained care and leads international projects. We are part of Region Östergötland.

KMC's work aims to strengthen the ability to manage serious incidents through education, exercises, research, investigations and collaboration. A common thread across all activity at KMC is a focus on the right capability in everyday life, crisis and war.
